How to wash a duvet
The question of how to wash a duvet is something which crops up on a regular basis and is actually fairly simple as long as you know what you’re doing. Many people try to wash their actual duvets in the bath for example only to find out that for white or cream coloured duvets it can be difficult to wash effectively and sometimes the duvet still looks discoloured in places.
For the vast majority of duvets it is possible to wash them in your washing machine although you will need to revert to the manufacturers instructions to make sure. You also need to ensure that the washing machine drum is big enough to take the single, double or larger duvets otherwise there is a chance the duvet itself could become snagged within the machine and possibly rip or not wash properly.
While normally your duvet cover would protect your duvet from excess wear and tear and discolouring, all duvets will at some stage need to be washed to ensure they are clean and free from any build up of bacteria. However, it is essential that you revert to the manufacturers instructions which should be visible somewhere on the duvet itself.
